In recent interviews (around May 2025), Xzibit opened up about the situation when Dr. Dre was looking to sign him to Aftermath Records. According to X to the Z, Steve Rifkind and Loud Records put an $11 million price tag on his release, with Xzibit stating Rifkind "just didn't want to let me go." 🤔
That massive $11 million buyout never materialized, so Xzibit didn't officially become an Aftermath artist. BUT, in a testament to their working relationship, Dr. Dre still executive produced two of Xzibit's most successful albums, Restless (2000) and Man vs. Machine (2002), while X was still on Loud/Open Bar. Xzibit recalled Dre telling him he'd be there for him regardless of where he landed. That's real! 👊
