You'll remember that after Kendrick dropped the culture-shifting diss track, Drake sued their parent record label, Universal Music Group (he didn't sue Kendrick directly), claiming the song falsely branded him as a PDF and that UMG shouldn't have promoted it. He claimed it damaged his reputation and even led to violence at his home.
Well, today, a federal judge shut all of that down. In her ruling, the judge said that a "reasonable listener" would understand that the lyrics in "Not Like Us" were "hyperbolic vituperations" and opinion, not statements of fact, especially within the context of a heated rap battle. The judge basically ruled that diss tracks are diss tracks, and you can't sue someone for defamation over artistic expression in a rap feud.
On this "No Filter" segment, I'm giving my raw, unfiltered reaction. This is more than just a legal loss for Drake; it's another victory for Kendrick in a beef that just won't end for the 6 God. The judge even called "Not Like Us" the "metaphorical killing blow" in the rap battle!
