I was talking with an artist, let's call him Chazo, and he was breaking down the immense pressure on up-and-coming rappers to "keep up appearances." The rap game sells you a dream of instant success, foreign cars, and stacks of cash. But the reality for 99% of artists is that you have to FUND that dream. That often means clocking in at a regular job, but nobody wants to show that part on Instagram. Admitting you work a normal job is seen as a weakness, like you're not really "poppin'."
On this "No Filter" segment, I'm co-signing that 100%. The realest thing you can do is grind—by any means necessary—to support your passion and your family. There is NO SHAME in having a 9-to-5 while you're chasing your 5-to-9! In fact, that's the REALEST hustle there is. This is a salute to all the artists out there really grinding it out and a message to the culture to stop glorifying fake lifestyles.
